Onze approach: choose your building blocks!

A better safari for less money

Now that we have been working in South Africa for about 10 years, and have our own lodge for a few years, we dare to say with certainty; we've had it with the dime-a-dozen tours in South Africa!

Yes... we are well aware that most people have that exact safari-tour-idea in their heads. How couldn they not? There's hardly any travel organization that deviates from this "formula". From their sales perspective we can actually understand it; by foreseeing a large number of days for stays at what we consider less important regions, the average purchase price is kept nicely low and the profit margin high. And that the tour content is a bit less …well that doesn't bother the average customer. He/she doesn't even know it! Because with a little pep talk in their brochures they can easily make the customer believe that a mouse is an elephant.

We have never worked this way, and we do not want to work this way. And that is why our sample trips always focused on the most important regions of South Africa, and we always do justice to each of these regions. We always avoid cramming too many regions in a too short itinerary. But the concept of "sample trips" is also somewhat outdated as well, because lodges change owners, better lodges become available, prices of transfers and flights fluctuate (just like the Rand), etc. ... and we always want the best for our customers. So we have to adjust our sample trips very regularly, because what is on the website are not necessarily always the best possible options.

That is why we think it would be better to outline all the important South Africa safari building blocks, and give the customer the freedom to combine the desired building blocks, based on personal wishes, budget and available vacation days.

how does it work?

All major building blocks are listed below. For more information; click on a building block, and the website will take you to a web page with all the details. Does the building block appeal to you? Keep it in mind as you look at other building blocks.

Have you chosen all the building blocks for your ultimate South Africa trip, or do you already have a good idea of which regions you want to include? Scroll down to find a list of packages at the bottom of this page. These will give you an idea of the total duration and cost. But whether your desired trip is already described with one of these construction packages or not; the next step is to contact us. Let us know by email or Whatsapp what you would like to have, we will discuss your plans and provide a tailor-made itinerary proposal.

Building blocks

Building blocks

Kruger & surrounds

You can think of many reasons to go to South Africa, but the reason that stands head and shoulders above the rest is the wealth of fauna and flora of the Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces.

Because let's face it; fashionable Cape Town and the Garden Route - for example - are fantastic to visit, but you also have similar tourist hotspots in Europe or US.

However; no European or American has got lions and elephants in his backyard. That makes Kruger the cornerstone of choice for any safari worth of the name, and the building block on which the rest of the "construction" (your overall travel proposal) should be built.

Cape Town & surrounds

Runner up to the essential Kruger building block. This is the most obvious addition, and also the most wanted region to include in a South African itinerary.

The Cape has a large number of tourist attractions such as the wine region, the Cape Point, the beach (especially the bays south of Cape Town), the Indian Ocean (where you can book boat trips in search of whales and seals), and of course the old center of Cape Town itself.

Moreover, Cape Town is the ideal starting point to explore the Garden Route.

The beach

Some people like to end their safari with a few days of relaxation at the seaside. Understandable, but where should you go? Where can you go?

Plenty of choices, but not every choice is equally accessible or fits in with the chosen "building blocks" that you included in your travel proposal. Moreover, not every coastal destination is equally pleasant/useful in every season.

And last but not least; it also depends on your wishes and your budget! A beach holiday in Mozambique is more exotic, exclusive and tropical...but it also comes with a higher price tag.

Tuli block

Tuli is the eastmost tip of Botswana, wedged between Zimbabwe and South Africa. This is a building block for the ecotourist at heart. For everyone who can't get enough of Mother Nature, and everyone who thinks; "After a visit to the Kruger region I want more of the same, and maybe even a little more adventurous"!

The "Tuli block" is an ecotourism destination on the rise. For the time being still somewhat unknown and therefore unloved, but hopefully that will change soon. However, at the moment eco-lodges still have to fight for every customer. Because they are desperately needed to cover the costs associated with the development of their nature conservation projects. For example, there is a major plan to reintroduce rhinos to the region.

For the thoroughbred ecotourist, Tuli offers a double bonus; Not only does he/she make a clearly noticeable difference when it comes to sufficiently protecting and preserving unspoilt nature in a "new" region, but he/she can even actively participate in a number of nature conservation projects! And that always results in unforgettable travel moments.
