Lodges

Lodges

Kruger Cliffs - Oriole cottage

Our own lodge is located at about the same distance from Kruger National Park and the Panorama Route; both are about 30 minutes of driving distance. Kruger Cliffs Lodge borders the Blyde Canyon reserve, the mountain view is spectacular. All cottages have this mountain view, from all rooms as well as from their deck.

Every cottage has a large deck with covered dining area, BBQ, private plunge pool, sun loungers and an outdoor "bucket shower". All our cottages offer 100% privacy, in all rooms as well as on their deck.

Every cottage is about 60 square meters in size, and has a large living room with kitchen/dining area/lounge area, an air conditioned bedroom, and a bathroom with separate toilet.

The fully equipped kitchen is very modern and has all appliances you could wish for (microwave, toaster, ceramic hob, kettle, fridge, freezer, etc). Of course there's a dishwasher too.

The lounge area has a sleeper couch for the kids. We can hang a mozzie net and there's an overhead fan. Kids pay only 50% of the adult rate when using the sleeper couch.

All bedrooms have extra length beds under a large mozzie net. These can be made up as one king size bed or twin beds. The bathroom has a double wash basin and a large walk-in shower.

We also have a family cottage with an extra bedroom. This bedroom is upstairs and has the same beds, air conditioning, etc. The bathroom is slightly different (it does have a walk-in shower but only one wash basin). It doesn't have an outdoor shower, but it has a private terrace with a spectacular view.

Important; Kruger Cliffs Lodge is a "self-catering" accommodation, but since in this safari itinerary we provide all day trips as therefor we did not include a rental car, we took the liberty of adding all necessary meals. Our lodge does not have a restaurant, so we provide breakfast- and BBQ-packs to enjoy in your own cottage.

We have various options for breakfast, and will discuss choices with you prior to departure. One breakfast will surely be "on the go", for a pick-nick breakfast in Kruger National Park. There's various options for our BBQ-packs as well, but one night we will take you to a restaurant, and yet another night we order take-away at another one of our favourite restaurants.

Singita Boulders Lodge, River Suite

Stacks Image 17745
Singita Boulders Lodge is set along the banks of the Sand River in Singita’s privately owned reserve within the Sabi Sand Reserve. The lodge is a celebration of the tranquillity, space, and light which flows throughout this incredibly vast area. Inspired by the geometry of the boulders on which it rests, Boulders Lodge is an inviting oasis where organic interiors integrate seamlessly with the raw African beauty outside.

The lodge is perfectly at home in its pristine setting and whether through walls of glass or open-air areas, the surrounding landscape and animals can be seen and enjoyed from every angle, making for a truly immersive safari experience.

Each suite has an ensuite bedroom, private sitting room and game viewing deck with private plunge pool overlooking the untouched wilderness, creating the perfect sanctuary for guests during their stay.

Rustic, handmade furnishings made from fossilised tree stumps, slabs of solid stone, wrought iron and leather are balanced with the soft, sensual feeling of a sheep-skin rug, natural flax bed linen and cloud-like cotton towels. These subtle layers of luxury blend soulful, sensual Africa with high design to instil a sense of tranquillity, to ease guests into the rhythm of safari life.

Further amenities:

• There is a swimming pool in the main lodge area.
• Spa and gym facilities are available.
• The Singita Boutique & Gallery and Premier Wine Boutique.
• There is a television available in the library at the main lodge.
• Dependent upon area coverage, there is mobile phone signal.
• There is complimentary internet (WiFi) access, however due to the remote location of the lodge, the wireless connection can be slow and intermittent.
• Electricity/power available: 220V. Converters are also available and hair dryers are supplied in each suite.

Azura Benguerra Island, Luxury Beach Villa

Imagine an unspoilt island within a Marine National Park, deserted beaches of pure white sand that extend for miles, sparkling turquoise seas criss-crossed by local dhows plying their trade, sunny days and star-studded nights. This is the enchanting island escape you always imagined. Azura Benguerra, the first eco-friendly resort in Mozambique, was hand-built by the local community and is operated in partnership with it.

Just 20 villas are nestled along one of the last undiscovered stretches of beach in the world, with all the creature comforts you could wish for, sparkling private pools, Mozambican butler-hosts to look after your every need, fish and seafood fresh from the ocean, a fantastic range of activities and experiences, an African spa to relax in, all at a community based project where the local islanders benefit as much as you. Azura Benguerra Island is paradise found.

Your Villa is one of the largest ones, with 100m2 living space and a larger pool.

Azura Benguerra Island's public areas are right on the beach and open to the sea. They have created several different zones for your enjoyment and relaxation, from the comfortable lounge area, to the vibey Star Bar, and their fabulous wine cellar offering a selection of the owner’s wines, especially flown in from their Chateau in France. The Jellyfish Restaurant offers breakfast and more formal dining. There is a media room for those needing TV and internet access, a boutique at reception, and their Padi 5 Star dive centre with top of the range Scubapro equipment.

Their hand-built villas blend modern chic with all that is traditional in Mozambique. Each of their 20 villas is just footsteps from the beach, yet designed with seclusion in mind. Nestled amidst indigenous gardens, they have created your own sanctuary, with a personal infinity swimming pool and spectacular beach-side view. A haven of rest and relaxation, where you can feel at one with the environment.

Azura Benguerra offers a lot of different activities, all on and around the island.

  • You can do a drive that takes you to the other side of the island. Along the way you pass some local villages, and three lakes with Nile Crocodiles. You can walk along the eastern beach with its strong wind and waves coming in from the Indian Ocean, and hike up Red Dune from where you have amazing views of Benguerra Island

  • They can take you to outhpoint Beach, the most southern tip of Benguerra Island, a very dramatic location especially with the driftwood tree trunks that lie resting on the perfect white sand. From there, walk through the mini sand dunes and arrive at their swimming and beach picnic spot. They will set up a wonderful picnic lunch for you with refreshments and shade.

  • You can hop to Island Hopping Bazaruto Island by speedboat, to hike up Bazaruto Dune for unsurpassed 360 degree panoramic views of the Archipelago. From there, head to Two Mile Reef where there are hundreds of species of tropical fish, coral, rays, invertebrates, as well as the possibility of seeing various species of turtle, or humpback whales during their annual migration. After snorkelling, arrive at North Point for a tantalising picnic, and swim in the cool clear waters.

  • Go deep sea fishing. Azura caters for beginner and experienced fishermen/woman alike, and operates a strict tag and release policy on protected species. You can choose to go trolling, popping or jigging with one of Azura’s guides, or with an independent guide.

  • Go scuba diving. Their marine life and corals are often cited as the best off the East Coast of Africa.

  • Go horse riding. For those who like to ride, a trek along the water’s edge on the horses based on Benguerra Island, and back along some of the island’s inland tracks and trails is an experience never to forget!

  • Have a private beach dinner. Azura Staff are creative souls. Your host will set up a private dinner on the beach in front of your villa, surrounded by candles arranged in the sand.
